We will soon publish details of all our policies, these will be open for discussion, once published, we believe in real democracy, where the people of these Islands have the right to have a say in Government Policies that will impact their lives, whether that be National Security (except classified information obviously), National Health Reform, Policing, Education, Taxation, Immigration Policy etc etc.
We acknowledge that it is impractical for all citizens to be able to have a vote in the creation of a policy whenever it is debated in the House of Commons, but we do believe that policies should be put to the people and feedback on the policy gioven by those who lives it will impact. This process should become easier and more manageable as technology evolves. For too long, a minority of people have told the majority how they will be governed, Government works for the people to better their lives and the nation, it is for the people to tell Government what they want, that works for all and the nation, and then Government to implement this in the most practicable way, taking into account genuine and real concerns of the people.
This set of Islands deserves and has every right to expect the Government to ensure we have Quality of Life, and they should have this as a clear goal at all times. We accept you cannot pleae all the people all the time, but you must do what is best for the nation, as a whole, and not what suits a few.
As such, we are working on Policies that will include the following – and we will make these legally binding once they have been worked out fully.
- Redo the entire tax system in the UK to make if fair, even and understandable, so it does not punish hard work, but encourages it; We will stop the persecution of the self-employed and ensure that everyone pays the same amount of tax as a percentage of thier income as everyone else. The VAT system will be changed so that there will be a sliding scale on the VAT charged on an item based on it’s value and necessity to life.
- Take a deep and critical look at the Public finance system, remove anything that results in the waste of public money – the Government has a duty of care to spend public money intelligently and with care, not frivilously on white elephant programs or by ignoring processes and procedures that simply waste money. We are the 6th richest nation on Earth, yet we are so far behind so many because public money is spent as if it is water.
- Investigate practicable ways to clear public sector debt, to get the country back “in the black” in a practical and reasonable time scale.
- Legally restrict public sector borrowing to ensure the country does not build up debts unless there is a national emergency and then Government would vote on it.
- Legally restrict the use of “consultants” by Government bodies to save money, instead, employ experts into full time jobs.
- Look at all Government departments – see where there is “fat on the bone” and reorganise to make them more efficient, we would work with Unions, employees and experts in business to see how we can improve how efficient Government departments can be without losing jobs and to see if more people with disabilities could be employed to undertake roles that would free up others for roles not suitable to those with disabilities.
- Reorganise the NHS – it is populated by great medical staff who do fantastic work, but the system they work within is decades old and needs to be modernised. As we plan to create regional governance to improve democracy in England, we would split the NHS into a Regional Management structure. We will buy out all NHS PFI contracts, they waste public money and are a drain on NHS finances. We will set the NHS up so that Government (Federal) retains overall responsibility but has investigative powers to investigate the regions as a true independent, there have been too many scandals where the NHS investigates itself – ridiculous. We are not opposed to the management privatisation of certain aspects of what the NHS currently does, but this would be limited to where it can bring real improvements, increase accountability and only in full cooperation with Unions and staff to ensure that both employees and patients are protected. If a scheme does not show real benefit, it would not proceed.
- Reorganise the Police as laid out in our brief article here.
- Reorganise the military – to improve efficiency, defence of the British Isles, increase effectiveness and expand to increase National Security.
- Merge the Coastguard into the Navy, then make it responsible for surface monitoring and patrolling of British Waters, as well as all air sea rescue operations. All current Air Ambulance services around the UK would be rolled into the Coastguard
- The RNLI would be “contracted to the Coastguard to continue to perform their current and historical roles with the Government matching every £1 raised with public funding.
- Create a UK Veterans Agency to ensure that verterans who have served these islands are cared for at an approrpriate level of care – this would include housing, medical (physical and mental health), employment opportunities, l;egal advise etc etc. Many who have served our home have been let down by broken promises and a complete lack of care by successive governments who have relied on charities to undertake critical care that the nation should shoulder – we will stoll this appalling situation.
- Scrap the UK Nuclear Deterrent. The UK is not going to launch nuclear weapons at anyone, we do not need to spend hundreds of billions on a nuclear arsenal – this money can be better spent on the people who pay the tax to fund the nation by improving education, health care, social care etc.
- Improve Adult Further education
- Scrap University tuition fees – students would still be expected to pay for accomodation if they are not living at home.
- Introduce a scheme whereby someone commits to 3 years military, Police, Fire or NHS service and their accomodation fees will be paid for by the state if they choose to attend University.
- Make Parental Alienation a criminal offence.
- Create a Prosecutors Office for each Region with a Chief Prosecutor. All Lawyers working for the prosecutors would be employed by the Minstry of Justice. This would replace the existing Crown Prosecution Service and ensure that the public got “value for money”. These lawyers would be barred from working on any other cases outside the remit of the Prosecutors Office.
- Create a Civil Defenders Office. All lawyers employed by this office would be self employed but on set contracts to ensure they are seperate from the state or the regional governments. They would oversee the defence of all persons arrested for a crime or if they need to be defended in family court. This Office would also provide “special advocates” who would represent the children in family court cases to ensure that the interests of the children are not forgotten in what is often vociferous litigation.
- Criminal Courts would be opened 24/7 and we would increase the effectivness and reliability of Video Conferencing for the Courts system.
- Change the law on who can represent people if courts, at present this limits legal proceeeding and causes unnessessary delay and costs. This would be done as a full consultation with the Bar Council, Law Society and other interested bodies.
- Reorganise Bank Holidays – we would make a mandatory bank holiday weekend every 8 weeks to give people 4 day weekends – these will be tailored in with Easter and Christmas. Remembrance Sunday weekend would become a bank holiday, November 11th, if it fell in a week, would become a national holiday.
- We would ban donations to political figures and political parties – this would be made a criminal offence. This would apply to individuals, businesses, charities, think tanks, governments, or Unions.
- Elections would be funded by Public funds – there would be strict controls put in place with financial limits depending on if the election was for a local political figure or a national one.
- MPs would be required to sit for at least 3 days per week to discuss matters within either their region or the state – no longer will debates be had to an empty chamber.
- Scrap the House of Lords and create an upper chamber of fully elected officials. All Religious leaders will barred from either house – Church and State to remain seperated.
- Reduce the number of MPs to around 150-200 maximum.
- Freeze all immigration for 5 years, except where the person is on a fully funded work visa by an employer within strict criteria, to allow the creation and debate of an immigration policy that the country can live with, then put this into law.
- Create a written constitution and enact it to law.
- Limit senior civil service pay to £200,000 per year.
- Limit Government Advisors to £120,000 per year.
- Link payrises to the retail price index to ensure that all workers get a payrise in line with inflation each year as a minimum.
- Create a minimum wage of £14 per hour.
- Create a list of minimum wages for certain sectors of employment.
- Create technical colleges to train people in specialised skills, such as electricians, plumbers, civil engineers etc etc.
- Change how government contracts are awarded to ensure that if a contractor gives a quote of £1 million, it cannot balloon to £50 million to ensure the contractor doesn’t makes stupid profits at public expense.
- Water is essential for life – this would be state controlled as a Non-Profit organisation, ensuring that all profits made were poured back into running the organisation and improving services.
- Electricity – as water.
- Complete review of the Financial Services Industry – it is out of control and it should answer to the nation not the nation answer to it – as we saw with Lizz Truss.
- Create a constructive and sustainable environmental vision that does not bankrupt businesses, individuals and the nation, that we can sustainably make these Islands the most environmentally responsible in the industrialised world if not the entire world. We are a very tiny percentage of the CO2 and other issues facing the world, we should not be blackmailed or guilt tripped into doing more than our fair share.
- Ethical Politics – These Islands have a long history, a mix of good and bad, with the bad often being due to poor ethics – we will change that, we will change who we trade with unless they are ethical then we will not – this will be a sliding scale, we cannot chop our nbose off to spite our face, but there are countries out ther who human rights records are deplorable, who fund terrorism or turn a blind eye to it at least, or they are major drug producers – we will look at all nations and then decide how we trade with them, if at all. No nation will be immune from the spotlight.
- Scrap the Royal Family. They can keep their private wealth, but all publicly owned buildings will be returned to the state, they will have no public funding, any security they want they will need to pay for and they will no longer be Head of State. If the head of the Royal Family wishes or is chosen to remain head of the Church of England that is a matter outside of Politics.
- Turn the British Isles into a federal state – with the federal Government having powers limited by law and constitution but made up of the leaders of the member states as well as others.
- Ban the covering of your face in public places no matter the reason – reasonable exception for crash helmets, face masks and work related PPE.
- Ban religious speaking in public – religion should be a private matter, not a public one.
- Consolidate local authorities to reduce duplication, reduce waste and increase accountability.
