We put people first. Always.

As the image above shows, a nation only works when its citizens come first — not political parties, not careerists, not donors, not corporate lobbyists. Constitutionally, the law must always sit at the top: no person, organisation, or institution can ever be above it. But in every other respect, the citizens must sit above the government.
Government is elected by the people and answerable to both the people and the law. The people are answerable only to the law.
The Government are employees of the People, appointed to manage the affairs of the state on their behalf, and they serve entirely at the pleasure of the people.
The BDA is built on a simple hierarchy:
- The People
- Hold the Sovereign authority not the Government
- They are the source of all political power.
- The only group that government must answer to – at all times and without exception.
- The Law
- Clear, codified, modern law that belongs to the people, not to bureaucratic insiders or political elites.
- All laws must comply with the written constitution and ensure the rights and freedoms of the citizens are not infringed.
The law protects citizens from the state just as much as it protects citizens through the state. - The Law cannot be used to increase the power of the state over the citizens.
- The Government
- They are only ever a temporary administrator.
- They have a moral, ethical and legal responsibility, codified in law, to only implement laws that improve the security of the state, the health, welfare or education of the citizens and all laws must be approved by a majority vote of the population.
- An institution delegated by the people to uphold the law – not to rewrite it for convenience, not to bend it for political gain, and certainly not to place itself above those it serves.
- This is the foundation of the British Democratic Alliance.
- Everything else builds from here.
We Are Not ‘Left’ or ‘Right’
Our political culture is obsessed with forcing every idea into a tribal box.
If a policy isn’t “left-approved” or “right-approved”, the assumption is that it must belong to some fringe ideology.
That thinking is a relic of a dying political era.
The BDA rejects it entirely.
- We’re not here to win culture wars.
- We’re here to fix a country that has been mismanaged, divided, and misled for decades.
Are We Libertarian?
No — but we absolutely believe in liberty.
Some visitors say we “look libertarian”.
And if by that they mean:
- You believe in personal freedom
- You believe citizens should be treated as adults
- You oppose government overreach
- You believe the state must be accountable
- You want a police force and civil service that serve the public, not themselves
- You want clear laws that the public can understand
- You don’t want government controlling every aspect of daily life
- You do not want bloated, wasteful and inefficient government
- You want accountable open government
Then yes — those values are present in what we do and what we fundamentally believe.
But true libertarianism goes far further. It demands:
- A minimal state
- Minimal regulation
- Minimal public infrastructure
- Deregulated markets
- Weak national planning
- Weak environmental protections
- No major public systems or national investment
- Corporate freedom without ethical duty.
- A system that permits exploitation as long as it stays technically legal.
The BDA firmly rejects that.
- We believe in a strong state – but a lean, well managed, competent, ethical, and tightly controlled one.
- We believe in regulation – but smart, clean, and transparent regulation, not bureaucracy for bureaucracy’s sake.
- We believe in public services — but efficient, modern, properly managed services, not bloated, corrupt, or ideologically captured systems. One that delivers good services for those they seek to help, but also those that pay for them…striking a fair balance between what is required and what the nation can justifiably afford, making sure the nation lives within its means.
What We Actually Are
The BDA is building a political model for the 21st century to last us into the 22nd century.
Civic-Liberal Constitutionalism
- Freedoms protected by law.
- Power constrained by law.
- Government held to account by the people.
- Police serving the community, not a political agenda.
- A fully codified and written constitution.
- A fair, equal and managed taxation system
- A country whose finances are managed ethically and sensibly.
Ethical, Technocratic Reform
Policies built on,
- evidence,
- engineering
- logic
- long-term planning
NOT
- slogans
- donors,
- party tribalism.
Democratic Neutrality and Responsibility
- Citizens with rights and responsibilities.
- Government that serves, not rules.
- Leadership that behaves like adults, not performers.
A Britain That Works Again
- Modern infrastructure.
- Clear laws.
- Functional public services.
- Environmental stewardship.
- Genuine equality under the law.
- National neutrality based on moral clarity, not alliances of convenience.
In Plain Words
We stand for:
- Freedom without chaos
- Order without oppression
- Government without corruption
- Law without complexity
- Prosperity without exploitation
- A nation that serves its people — not the other way around
If someone needs a label, the simplest one is this:
We are a people-first, law-second movement for national renewal and practical reform.
- No ideology.
- No tribes.
- No political theatre.
- Just the work of rebuilding a country that deserves far better than it has received
